This months feature shows how easy it is to insert a name and address in Word from Contacts using smart tags in Word XP and 2003.

Smart Tags

Smart tags are new to Word XP and Word 2003. They can save you time by allowing you to perform actions in Word that you would normally use other programs for.

When a smart tag is available purple dotted lines appear below your text, move the mouse and point at the text and the smart tag will appear.

Click the smart tag to read the list of available options.

Adding a name & address to Word from Contacts

Firstly, make sure that the name and address you want to use in Word is already in Contacts and secondly check that Word is setup to use names as smart tags. To do this, to go the Tools menu and choose AutoCorrect Options, choose Smart Tags. Make sure "Persons Name" is ticked in the list of recognisers. Close the dialog box.

Now in Word type the persons name and press Enter. A purple dotted line will appear below the name, point at the name and then click the smart tag button and choose Insert Address from the menu that appears. The address will now appear in the Word document.
