Hints & Tips - September 2001

We hope you find the following useful.

Word -

Removing Formats
Sometimes it is not convenient to use Undo to remove formats. To quickly remove the majority of formats from a paragraph click anywhere within the paragraph and press Ctrl+Q.

Note: Ctrl+Q resets the text to the format of the style in use. If this does not appear to be working change to Normal Style using either the Style box at the beginning of the Formatting Toolbar or by choosing Format, Style, Normal and Apply.
Excel -

Hiding Zeros in a worksheet
When the result of a formula is zero you often want to hide the zeros so that they don't print or appear in the worksheet. The easiest way to do this is to use a Conditional Format and set the Font Colour to White.

To do this choose the Format Menu and Choose Conditional Formats, set Condition 1 to Cell Value is Equal To and type 0 in the text box. Click the Format button, click the down arrow to the right of colour and click on white.

Outlook -

If you like typing in the e-mail address as opposed to using the address book try typing part of the address and then pressing Ctrl+K. Outlook will either complete the address for you with the nearest match from your address book or open the Check Names dialog box so that you can choose the address you want to use.
